Huan: I never raised 'gay' question to Ramkarpal

GEORGE TOWN: Parti Cinta Malaysia candidate Datuk Huan Cheng Guan has denied ever questioning the sexual leanings of his rival in the Bukit Gelugor by-election, DAP’s Ram­karpal Singh.

“Everyone, especially Pakatan Rakyat leaders, should stop linking me to the accusation. I wish to make it clear that I have never called him a homosexual.

“If you have proof that I made the accusation, please sue me,” he said at the party’s office in Jalan Air Itam yesterday.

Huan claimed that he was now the subject of ridicule on social media over the matter.

On Tuesday, Huan was reported to have said that he was curious about the photographs of muscular men posted on Ramkarpal’s Facebook profile page.

He then asked reporters if they felt that “something was wrong” with Ramkarpal being unmarried at his age. The reporters in turn put that question to Ramkarpal, who retorted that Huan’s remark was unnecessary and that it was not a crime to be unmarried at 38.

Meanwhile, the turnout for early voting yesterday was recorded at 83%. Police officers from the Air Itam police station were among the early birds casting their votes at the Bandar Baru police station.

Polling for the by-election is on Sunday.
